I don’t know about you, but ever since I could drive I’ve ran into car repair shops trying to milk every penny out of me any chance they get. It’s been a frustrating experience as a woman that is not super car savvy. I’ve felt taken advantage of time and time again and wished I could just find someone I could trust. I found them, ladies and gentelman.
Patricia Bonecutter is the boss lady behind Summit City Car Care. She bought the place back in 2002 and learned parts, service writings, and estimates on the job. Talking to her about the business put a huge smile on my face. She has helped create a place everyone hopes for, a place you can take your vehicle and get honest answers and fair prices. As a woman who understands the struggle personally, she wanted a place that people could trust.
Patricia shared with me that her father was a mechanic and taught her how to do basic tune ups and oil changes when she was young. Knowing these basic skills was empowering to her and it is something Patricica believes everyone should understand. That’s why at Summit City Car Care, they are more than happy to explain the problems to their customers when they wish to learn more. It’s when you're left in the dark that shops can take advantage of you and that’s why this extra perk of Summit City Car Care is so important.
The garage has been there on Crescent Ave since 1919. It once housed a dentist's office, doctors offices, and even a drug store. After multiple owners, Patricia swooped in making Summit City Car Care following the golden rule, “Do unto others as you would want to be treated.” After years of running the business, Patricia hopes to retire within the next year and sell the shop to one of her current employees, who is passionate about the business. We can only hope that the new owner can carry on the amazing legacy Patricia will leave behind.
